Louis Daguerre was born on November 18, 1787 and died on July 10, 1851. Like Joseph Nicephore Niepce, he was born in France. He created the daguerreotype. This process required a copper plate to be exposed with a camera obscura, but unlike Niepce's process which took several hours, the daguerreotype took only several minutes. His daguerreotype took the first candid shot of a person (right) in Paris in 1838.
